Expert review of the new generation of Huawei Matebook D 15 laptop
The latest Huawei laptop for our country’s market is the new Matebook D 15, which may not be new at all in appearance, but inside, its better processor shows off.
You should already know the Huawei Matebook D Series laptops. This series includes affordable Huawei laptops that come with products in 14 and 15 inch sizes. In this review, we have gone to the 2021 model of the Matebook D 15, which, although it is familiar with the same appearance, has important changes under its shell that can not be easily overlooked. Designing
If you have read and seen reviews of the previous model or other models in this series, you are quite familiar with the design of this product. In the 2021 model of Huawei Matebook D 15, we still have the same aluminum body that can be ordered in two colors, gray and silver. It weighs 1.56 kg, which is one of the lightest 15-inch laptops, and it is not difficult to transport.
Of course, this light weight is mostly due to the fact that a relatively thin sheet of aluminum is used in the construction of this laptop, which, although it reduces the overall weight of the product, on the other hand, makes the back of the screen elastic in case of pressure. Truth be told, between light weight or a stronger body, I personally prefer a lighter weight.
Display
The screen of Huawei Matebook D 15 is not much different from its previous generation. The panel of this display, as its name suggests, is 15 inches (more precisely, 15.6 inches) and its resolution is equivalent to full HD. Also, the aspect ratio is still 16: 9, which I wish Huawei had moved to a 16:10 display; Especially since this could reduce the lower edge of the screen and add to the beauty of the product.
The panel itself is IPS and with a matte coating on it, has a maximum brightness of 250 nits. Like other models in the Matebook D series, this display does not support touch commands, and the color accuracy is not as accurate as it is for graphics and photo editing. The small margins around the screen also make it easy for Huawei to stick to the webcam under a key between the F6 and F7 buttons. This camera has somehow become a signature of Huawei in its series of laptops, but unfortunately we do not see any improvement in terms of quality.
This means that the resolution of this camera is still 720p, and its positioning angle is such that it is better not to start typing during video calls. Of course, I still believe that this webcam is better than many other laptops in terms of security because it is completely hidden.
Keyboard and touchpad
The keyboard and touchpad on the Matebook D 15 are no different from their predecessors, as there is no need to change them at all. The keyboard has soft buttons that cover an acceptable distance and are easy to type with. I write the same review with the same keyboard and I can almost say I have no problem with it. One thing that might have finally been added to this generation was the backlight for the keyboard keys, but unfortunately that did not happen. But other than that, the keys themselves are the right size, and the distance between them is big enough for you to type fast with this keyboard.
Regarding the leave pad, I must say that this case is also one of the strengths of this laptop. The size of this crack pad is relatively large and the bottom three quarters of its space can be easily pressed to click. We also have a very high sensitivity in this crackpad, but of course I preferred to reduce it a bit in Windows Sting. Honestly, I have to say about this trackpad that Huawei uses Windows Precision drivers, which are the best touchpad drivers for Windows laptops.
Hardware
So far, we have said many times about different parts that it is not different from the previous generation. But here we want to say why you should consider this laptop in your list of options at all, because Huawei has offered this laptop with an 11th generation Intel processor.
In the 2021 model of the Huawei MateBook D 15, we see the Intel Core i5 1135G7 CPU, which is a quad-core processor. To understand the improvements of this processor chipset compared to the previous generation Core i5, let’s compare the benchmark of this laptop with the previous generation of Matebook D 14 laptop, which we also published a review some time ago.
As you can see, this new processor is a significant improvement over the previous generation in both single-core and multi-core. In both parts, the processor was able to be about 30% faster, which can be seen in practice. If you remember, in the previous review of the MateBook, we said that the laptop fan turned on a lot, but during the use of the new MateBook D 15, the sound of the fan is rarely heard.
Battery speaker
The speakers of the Huawei Matebook D 15, like its predecessors, are located under the body. When you start this laptop for the first time with Windows 10 نسخه Home version, it also downloads a new driver for the sound on this laptop, which includes the Nahimic application for sound enhancement. The sound quality, resolution and volume are good, but unfortunately these speakers are still under the body. This means that the sound does not play directly to the user, and if you put the laptop on your feet, the sound will be farther away from you. Since the sides of the laptop keyboard are empty, it may be possible to move the speakers to those areas to output sound to the user.
Connections
Apart from the processor, another very important improvement in this laptop is the use of the new WiFi 6 standard. The WiFi 6 standard is up to about 3 times faster and more stable than the WiFi 5 standard. You may not have a router with WiFi 6 support right now, but having this technology in your laptop will definitely prepare you for the future of this technology from now on. Huawei Share feature is also present in this laptop, which if you have a Huawei flagship phone, it will bring you an attractive experience. With Huawei Lion, you can easily transfer files between your phone and laptop, or use this laptop to completely control your phone and even reply to text messages. In general, it is an interesting feature that is not seen in the products of other brands, but to use it, you must have this laptop (or other products of the Matebook series) with the high-end Huawei phone.
Conclusion
The 2021 model of the Huawei Mate Pad D 15 laptop can not be considered a “completely new generation”, but we are dealing with the same laptop that now has significant improvements in the processor section and offers faster and better performance. To buy this laptop, it is possible to buy it with 256 or 512 GB SSD memory and 8 or 16 GB RAM, which requires a response from many users.
