Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G expert review
In recent years, Samsung has shown that it pays special attention to the mid-range phone market. Following this strategy made the Samsung Galaxy A series, due to its reasonable price and valuable features, able to find a strong foothold not only among Iranian users but also among users around the world. A few months after the introduction of the new generation of one of the most popular A-series models, the Galaxy A52, the Koreans have introduced an improved version of the A52 5G with a more powerful chip called the A52s 5G.
Design and build quality of Galaxy A52s 5G
In appearance, the Galaxy A52s 5G does not change from the standard model. Samsung has a median size of 8.4 x 75.1.159.9 mm and weighs 189 grams. With such dimensions, you have to move the phone slightly in the hand to access all the points of the screen and the volume keys, unless you have large handles. The minimalist and matte design of the back of the A52s gives it a modern and attractive look that, despite its lilac, mint green, black and white colors, can satisfy different tastes.
A52s 5G display and speaker
The Galaxy A52s 5G features a 6.5-inch OLED display that offers a 20: 9 widescreen aspect ratio with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 and a very good pixel density of 405 pixels per inch. Samsung says that by using Infinity-O technology in the display, it has used precision laser cutting to create a selfie camera hole so that in addition to narrowing the screen edges and increasing the screen-to-body ratio, the pixel density around the hole is not reduced.
Thanks to the 120Hz refresh rate, the user can have a psychological experience when using different applications; However, the refresh rate of the Galaxy A52s 5G is fixed, and due to the lack of an Adaptive Referesh Rate, it only supports 60 and 120 Hz modes. According to Samsung, the A52s 5G display can automatically reach a maximum brightness of 800 nits in automatic mode, so that even in bright sunlight, users do not have a problem with the screen resolution.
Using the 50% pattern, we measured the brightness of the Galaxy A52s 5G display in both automatic and manual modes. Compared to the A52 5G, the s model’s display produces more brightness. In auto mode, the maximum brightness of the display is about 56% higher and reaches a very good number of 1305 nits. In manual adjustment mode, the minimum amount of brightness that the display provides is 2.3 nits, which is a very good number and does not irritate the eyes.
The Galaxy A52s 5G display supports HDR10, HDR10 and HLG + standards as well as a wide range of DCI-P3 color space for HDR content display. Like other Samsung phones, the A52s offers two color profiles, Vivid and Natural. According to our tests, the Vivid profile covers the DCI P3 color space well and with acceptable accuracy. The colors in this profile are relatively neutral, but if you want, you can change the color temperature to your liking from the settings menu. Natural profile covers sRGB space with good accuracy; We also got a little less cool colors in this profile than Vivid mode. Note that some competitors are more accurate.
The Galaxy A52s uses the same standard model stereo speaker layout: a dedicated low-frame speaker and a second speaker are integrated into the call speaker. The A52s supports Dolby Atmos, and the speaker volume is acceptable. However, if you turn up the volume too much, you will experience a drop in quality and you will not be able to separate the sounds well. Fortunately, there’s a 3.5mm headphone jack so you don’t have to worry too much about listening to music or watching movies.
Software and user interface of Galaxy A52s 5G
The Galaxy A52s 5G runs Android 11 and Samsung’s One UI 3.1 user interface. Version 3.1 of the Korean UI was released at the same time as the Galaxy S21, and with some small features; But it added an application to One UI. For example, adding the Google Discover section to the Home page provides the user with the latest news of the day.
The familiar blue light filter feature has also been renamed Eye Comfort Shield in this version, and users can choose between Adaptive and Custom. In adaptive mode, the device adjusts the color temperature according to the time of day for the comfort of the user’s eye. Custom mode also lets you set your own calendar for warming or cooling colors. These minor changes, while they may not make much of a difference at first glance, play an important role in making the user experience more integrated.
Performance and battery A52s 5G
As mentioned in the introduction, Samsung has launched the Galaxy A52 5G version with improved hardware. While the A52 5G features the Snapdragon 750G 5G 8-nanometer chip as its beating heart, a new version of Qualcomm’s 6-nanometer Snapdragon 778G 5G chip now powers more processing power for Samsung’s new midrange. For CPU-based processing, 8 processing cores are used, including 4 high-powered Kryo 670 Prime (based on Cortex-A78 logo) at 2.4 GHz and four low-power Kryo 670 Silver cores (based on Cortex-A55 logo) They operate at a frequency of 1.9 GHz. Compared to the standard model chip, the number of powerful cores has doubled and the frequency of each core has increased by 200 MHz. Graphics processing is also done on Snapdragon 778G 5G with Adreno 642L processor.
In addition to 5G connectivity, the Snapdragon 778G chip supports 6E WiFi communication standards in the 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz frequency bands, and also provides Bluetooth 5.2.
